Within its hour-long runtime, the latest release from Memphis-based Midnight Sound Service explores a range of sprawling psychedelic textures and biomechanical rhythms, all underpinned by moments of very real emotion. The struggle to find fulfillment in a world that continuously offers novel temptations to excess is the spiritual theme of the record, and there is an ebb and flow from song to song between moments of peaceful reflection, celebratory bliss, and occasional digital chaos.
"How to Tame a Hedonist" was originally written for live performance, and was reimagined for this release by Aaron Rude and Colin Wilson in 2019 and early 2020.
